My students have been one of the biggest blessings of my life. I've been lucky enough to have a great group that strives to learn more on a daily basis. They are truly learners that want to expand their view of the world. Unfortunately, many of them struggle to quench their thirst for knowledge. 92% of our student population are economically disadvantaged which leaves them with the inability to truly unlock their potential outside the school walls. I can, however, say that our school has been supportive of our community. In October of 2013, our community encountered a devastating flood that affected more than 100 students at our school. Our school bonded together to help these families ease their transition from one home to another and start a life all over again. The students in my classroom deserve the ability to learn to their fullest extent and I hope to do this by teaching them real life abilities that will help them for years to come.
