My kids come from low-income minority families. A big majority are in foster homes, or living in a single parent household. Many have already experienced many traumatic events in their 8 short years of life and that makes me so sad. When I see their excited little faces as they come into my classroom I want nothing more than to create a fun, safe, educational and positive environment for them. My kids are so eager to learn and they deserve to be given the opportunity to succeed. This is the time to install in them the importance of having an education as well as letting them know that they can break the cycle.
