I am teaching a new PreK3 class this year. We got some some supplies that we needed including five pretend and learn outfits. We have an astronaut, police officer, pilot, firefighter, and chef. The problem is we don't have a place to store them! If we had the Help Yourself Dress Up Center, my students would then have a place to store all of our cool outfits in one area. We have a beautiful new doll, but no baby bed for her! We have a sand and water table, but no sand!
With just a few key items, our classroom will be a complete developmentally appropriate environment. Toddlers feel secure in their space and can learn self regulation when they know exactly where things belong. Pretend play is essential for developing social emotional skills that will benefit the children their entire lives. They need clean sand for sensory play, a doll bed for pretend play, and the Help Yourself Dress up Center to store their pretend play outfits. These three items would help my students enjoy their classroom even more.
