For my English 12 classes, students will be able to analyze complex characters, themes and perspectives (RL 11-12.1,12.2), as well as collaborate with others in enriching writing and discussion-based activities (W 11-12.1 through 12.9; SL 11-12.1). By using hard copy books rather than screens for longer selections, it is easier to create annotations and to chunk content for differentiation for students with special needs as well.
For my Journalism classes, having the resources to create professional content and to reach a larger reading audience will help them achieve the recognition and awards they deserve for their stories. The AP Stylebooks will help them improve their industry-standard technical skills (Journalism Foundations 3.0, 10.0; Journalism II 1.1, 4.1-4.2). The chargers will help them type content on their Chromebooks and the news racks around campus will reach a wider audience. Although those items aren't specifically NVACS-based, they do contribute to our overall success in the course to earn credit toward graduation requirements.
