I teach at a dual-immersion school where the main goal is for all students to become fluent in both English and Spanish languages. The majority of my students are Hispanic or Latino. I have found they are very talented artists and that their rich culture at home and in their communities affects their artwork greatly. Language barriers are difficult for my students but that all goes away in the art room. I am proud to be my building's art teacher because I get the privilege to learn and create with my kids no matter what kinds of lives they have at home or language in which they are fluent.
