I teach prekindergarten in Detroit. The students that I service are at a higher risk for not continuing their education due to risks such as low income, incarcerated parent, and living in high crime areas. My students are very sweet and eager to be exposed to many things. They love learning, and many go home and tell their families about activities we do in class. My school is PreK-8, which is very diverse. Our population is made up of African Americans, Bengalis, and Caucasians. My school has been recognized as a top school in Michigan; however, it is located deep in the city surrounded by abandoned and burned houses.
