In my class we dissect every story we read by breaking it into different parts. For example: Problem, Climax, Solution, Setting, Imagery Language, Author's Purpose, and Characters. We underline those parts in the text in different colors. Later when test taking we use the same colors as a test strategy to make sure we understand the question and what it is asking, in order to be able to find the best answer. Having the supplies or colors that we need to do this will help my students be successful on their daily work an on their tests.
Having books that they can read on their level, will also help them be successful by allowing them to practice the skill they have to learn on a book they are able to read.
