Exercise balls in the classroom are proven to reap many benefits- improved learning and focus being a BIG one! I have two exercise balls in use already in my room, and the students using them are already showing improvements in learning and attention span.
Allowing students an opportunity to move freely on an exercise ball, instead of a traditional classroom chair, provides them an opportunity to focus all of their extra energy on the task at hand- learning! We need these exercise balls.
These students struggle daily with focusing in class, and are used to being chastised for being off task or fidgeting. Using an exercise ball in class gives them a chance to no longer be seen as a "behavior problem" . It allows them a fresh start and an opportunity at a successful school year!
