My students are 57 first graders who will be coming to second grade next year. They spend half of their day learning Chinese, and the other half of they day they spend in my classroom, learning English and Language Arts. We are a public school in Utah in a middle economic area. These students are spunky and fun kids. This will be my first year teaching this age group, and I don't have more than a sad crate full of books for their enjoyment. My goal? 2000 books. With 57 students reading daily, I'm sure we'll need a lot of books to keep their minds busy and interested. I'm currently trying to build my classroom library through a variety of methods including grants, donations, and personal spending.
