Over 80% of my students are on free and reduced lunch and several students are homeless. Our families struggle to provide the learning tools and experiences our students need. They struggle with a lack of schema and experiences to connect the lessons they learn in school to real-life.
Understanding this, we try to provide relevant and rigorous learning experiences for all of our students. We are committed to providing authentic learning experiences that are student driven and allow students to create knowledge rather than just receive it. We often try to provide experiences beyond what is generally expected in school. We provide a multitude of clubs to increase student experiences, take students on field trips designed to provide experiences like eating in restaurants, work on projects to teach budgeting for a purchase, and planning an event. We try to educate the whole child: academically, ethically and socially.
