Our team members are all 9th graders this year (except for one). I have enjoyed every moment watching them learn and grow together throughout the last season. These students are fearless. I鈥檝e watched them tackle challenges week after week, embracing the struggle of completing an engineering project that鈥檚 way beyond anything they鈥檝e ever done before, and never complaining. For this group of students, although failures happen far more often than successes, it鈥檚 the simple notion that success can be achieved through a series of failures that keeps them going. I鈥檝e often thought, 鈥淢an, today we hit a lot of snags. I wonder if they鈥檙e going to show up next time ready to work.鈥 Each time, they return to a practice session more determined than ever. To watch these students work is inspiring beyond words. They are real-world problem-solvers, engineers, scientists, mechanics, and programmers putting their skills to the test on a regular basis in a way that they wouldn鈥檛 be able to in class.
