My students are eager to learn, and are excited when materials are available for them use. The engagement of the students increases when they are able to participate in lessons using math materials versus sitting passively listening to me.
My students are precision partnered in class in order to benefit from peer learning. Having concrete materials in their hands allows them to facilitate their learning, increase academic and social language, which ESL students need in order to ensure success in their academic careers.
