I teach middle school students who are special needs and are struggling with understanding Math Concepts and Applications. TransMath is a curriculum that begins at the beginning and fills in the learning gaps of struggling middle school students. Most of my students are actually 3 or more grade levels behind. Our school is designated as a high poverty school with most of our students receiving free lunch. These students need a math curriculum that will not only help them catch up to their peers in math, but also a curriculum that is aligned with the state standards for which they are assessed.Students who do not understand the use of numbers in the real world often become unemployed or are employed below the poverty level. My efforts are to ensure these students are ready for the world of work, and, college if that is what they dream.
