My students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Some of their home settings are not the best. Some have also experienced extreme hardships and traumatic situations at a very early age. Many of them do not have Internet nor technology devices in the home. However, students are eager to learn and they try very hard to do their best. They are always looking for my approval on whatever they do.
My students are 3rd graders and to me are still at that impressionable age. I want to do all I can to mold them to be able to make their own positive outlook on the importance of education. Technology seems to excite them especially when used during lesson implementation while in whole group.
The school is a Title I school which is about 99% free lunch eligible students. Though some of our classrooms are at a disadvantage due to lack of working computers and sharing. The climate of the school is a warm, conducive learning environment which could very well be the only place of comfort for some.
