These materials will make a difference in my students learning because if when this program is implemented, this will be the first time that these students will have been exposed to musical instruments. In addition, these instruments will boost their moral in other subjects as well.
Most of these students are from very low social economic and under privileged families and will never be able to experience what music really is so I am trying to expose them to other ways of being successful in life and through out their educational experience. This will be truly an experience for them to remember.
All instruments will be used for various reasons such as parades, competitions, seasonal programs and programs at other schools that we will be invited to. Below is a list of reasons why each instrument is used in a percussion section.
Bass Drum- The bass drums provides the beats that accompanies all other percussion instruments.
Snare Drums-The snare drums will add flavor to the drum cadences and the snare drums will also help the students with better wrist coordination when learning the basic rudiments.
Tenor Drums-The tenor drums will help accompany the bass drums with that added touch of keeping the snare drum players on track when performing.
Cymbals-the cymbals will help embellish the crash sound that will enhance the performers skills
Quads-The quads are used for the performers that stands out above the rest and will make all members more creative with their musical abilities.
All percussion instruments will be used together to form musical drum cadences for a marching drill-team and other programs as well.
