I teach at an arts based, no technology, school but teachers are allowed to use a projector for grades 5-8. We use painting, music, movement, sewing, knitting and drawing, to name a few, mediums to help teach and implement the curriculum. An overhead projector will help the kids connect to the content being taught as well as provide inspiration and visual guidance. Some topics we will be studying this year are Botany, as well as the various regions of North and Meso America this year. The class has quite a few ESL kids, so images will really help deepen their understanding of the content and build vocabulary which will enhance their writing.
