Teaching math in kindergarten is my favorite thing to teach. Learning happens throughout the years, and many of the skills and concepts taught will be built upon as my students go from one grade to the next. It truly is so wonderful to help my students and their families lay the foundation for what they will need to be successful in math as they grow.
To work with numbers, kindergarten math needs to be hands on to allow for our growing mathematicians to explore numbers. Having a "toolbox" at home and in school of different math manipulatives will help students take on the challenging, yet exciting, work in kindergarten.
