Whole Brain Teaching strategies have as one of its top 10 teaching games the Super Improvers Chart. Two goals are set each week, one social and one academic. When students demonstrate these skills several times they earn a sticker. Ten stickers and they get to move up the sea animals hierarchy-themed chart. At the end of each quarter, the student will earn that stuffed plush sea animal as a reward to remind him/her of all that they've accomplished that quarter.
Books, books, books: What better way to teach literacy than by providing a variety of literature and informational books that will pique students' interest, engage them in reading, and motivate them to improve! I have selected some of the latest, best, inspiring books from grade levels 2nd to 4th to entice students to read, read, read! After a year of being at home engaged with technology, I would like to bring children back to the fundamental skill of reading for pleasure, information, and education.
Art is one of my favorite subjects to teach. The book "Drawing with Children" has been a staple of my classroom for many years. It teaches children how to listen, observe, and express themselves in the visual arts. I look forward to broadening my students' perspective through the visual arts, after a previously long and difficult year.
