My students are hard-working scholars who are deeply interested in learning and bettering themselves. Fifty-one percent of the school is considered economically disadvantaged with several families living together in one home in our neighborhood just so they can attend our school. Twenty-eight percent of the school is considered English language learners. This year, our goal for students passing the STAAR is 90% for reading. Last year, our students collectively scored 88% on the reading STAAR. At my school, we put the students' needs before anyone else's so that we can create life-long learners who are prepared for further education or anything they may dream of doing.
