Our school is one of three high schools in our city. Both of the elementary schools that were destroyed by the EF5 tornado last year are within a mile of our school. The homes that were destroyed belonged to our kids! The families who were affected were the families of our kids! Some of the children who were trapped inside the elementary schools were siblings of our kids! Some of the people who perished were related to our kids!
Our school has been the most normal thing some of our kids have experienced this year. Over 400 of our kids were displaced by the tornado, and many had to move to other cities. However, our kids are resilient. They are good kids, they are sweet kids, and they are strong kids who want good futures.
