Help save the Aquatic class who needs new filters, media, cleaning equipment, fish care items, and organization. The fish tanks had an excessive algae growth and the fish were experiencing several illnesses.
These students have taken tanks that were dirty and in poor condition and have cleaned and repaired them to make new homes for fish. The pH, ammonia, nitrate, and nitrite levels were high. Replacing the older equipment that is now worn and damaged will help maintain the aquariums in good condition and increase the quality of life for the fish.
Students will learn to care and maintain their water environments by working together. This on-going project will help them develop the social skills needed to be successful.
Additionally, these tanks will also provide a lovely scenery for all of the science students and staff who use the lab. The science center is used daily by over 300 students, not just the Aquatic Science Class.
