First graders are best known for their enthusiasm for learning and energy in the classroom. The typical classroom routine of students coming in and sitting in their assigned seats in uncomfortable uniform chairs has become decreasingly conducive to learning. Flexible seating provides a great solution for this. By funding this project my students will be able to have alternative ways to sit and work. Stability balls will allow my students to use their bodies to focus on content taught in the classroom. Inflatable balance pads will be used to place in our plastic chairs to allow for some comfort as well as an uneven surface for my students to wiggle while they work.
This project will improve my students success!
Students who are able to wiggle while they work are capable of retaining more information being and complete work given in the classroom. This project would complete my dream of creating a flexible seating environment for my first graders to grow and learn!
