I am a Speech Therapist for children with special needs. They are remarkable children who are from a very low income area. Many of them have very hard lives and despite the obstacles that they have to face on a daily basis, they still manage to come to school with smiling faces. They are faced with things that many people will never have to deal with in a lifetime. These children have varying handicapping conditions such as Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and Spina Bifida. They come to school eager to learn and full of life. They are happy with the simple things and are grateful to have the little bit that they do. They enjoy coming to Speech Therapy because it is an environment in which they can express themselves in whatever way they choose. They are free to use toys or art to enhance their learning and understanding of basic concepts. The supplies that they use are unique in that they allow learning through multiple modalities.
