My students difficult home lives make it tough for them to focus on the skills that will help them escape the poverty cycle and make a better life. I aim to develop a passion for learning that urges them to grow.
My fourth graders attend a low socioeconomic, Title 1 school in an urban city. All of them receive a free breakfast, and many of them qualify for free lunches. My school has limited funds for materials that actively engage learners. This forces me to rely more on paper pencil tasks which students find redundant and uninteresting unless I can raise the money to purchase the materials myself.
