Working at one of the largest high schools in North Carolina has allowed me to teach a VAST variety of students. I am currently teaching biology to the English as a second language students. I also teach standard level biology and one honors course. Teaching the ESL students has provided me with many challenges. I currently have 25 students whose native language consists of 7 different languages. My standard level class consists of primarily very low income students; many without a permanent home. Lastly, my honors course may not be filled with low income students, but they are eager to be challenged and excel in the sciences. In all cases, this iPad would allow me to differentiate lessons and facilitate higher level learning, whether using it as a station to look terms up in their native language or using it as a lab online simulation.
