I teach in a school that have several different language and cultures. Some children come to school reading at a high level and some come in not speaking English at all. Many children come to school without some of their basic needs being met. Many are hungry, tired and wearing the same clothes that they wore the day before. Many of the parents are not interested in what happens at school or helping their child to be successful there. My school is a higher order thinking school. This model focuses on the teaching through the arts and allowing each child to express themselves in a variety of of ways dance, written expression, song, music, poetry, art, design etc. This expose allows children to tap into talents that they may or may not have been able to other wise.
