The majority of the students in my class and in our school come from the lower socio-economic demographic. Many of their parents work long hours, sometimes at two jobs. In addition, many of their parents are also immigrants and speak English as their second language. Although they are faced with many disadvantages, most of these children have a love for learning that you can see in their faces. When they are able to spell a word that they couldn't before, or read a new book on their own, their eyes light up and it's such an amazing and gratifying sight.
