We have a mainstreamed class with special education, English language learners and regular education students mixed together. Our school is in an urban setting with 75% minority population and 25% who use English as a second language. Traditional methods of instruction (textbooks, lecture and testing) do not seem to work well, as in the past there has been a high failure rate. Through a proactive approach, our school has given students access to our Google School accounts to share documents with each other and teachers. Since this process began three years ago our failure rate has dropped. Our district has funded a wireless high speed internet network in our school, but we only have 120 computers available on a first come first served basis for a student population of 1900.
