While out and about, one would be hard pressed to turn the corner and not see a child with an electronic device in his/her hands. Many times they're playing games, but there are many educational apps available that should be utilized on these devices, and what better place to introduce them to these apps than at school?
Up until this point in their lives, many students view the iPad as simply a gaming device or entertainment center. They are unaware of the educational potential that they are literally holding in the palms of their hands. They play Angry Birds and Minecraft. They do not practice reading, writing, or math.
As teachers, we need to incorporate technology into education and unlock the true potential of the iPad in the hands of our youth.
