My school is doing comprehensive distance learning until at least February. All of my teaching is through a MacBook Pro and I am frequently switching between multiple programs/ apps to display for students while on Zoom at the same time.
By using a second monitor, I am hoping to make my students' online learning go a little more smoothly by limiting what they have to see what I'm displaying. By reducing the number of programs they see me using/sharing, students will benefit by being able to fully focus on what programs they need to use in the moment.
We use Zoom to meet as a class everyday. Students are also asked everyday to get into GoogleDrive and Canvas (our learning management system). I often share my screen with them when I'm teaching. Some students often tell me to slow down or they get lost trying to say with me going between programs. Other teachers in my building have a second monitor already and they say it makes a big difference in their instruction, which helps students learn more effectively.
