My students come from a very low income background, but they smile all the time and light up the room. I try to find ways to integrate the learning they need to do with activities that keep them interested in school. I want to motivate them to be life long learners, but to do that I need more then just text books.
One student told me after making paper robots that he wished we had the money at our school to make real ones because that is "real science". That stuck with me and so I am looking for him. I am looking for all the kids in my class that beg to build things with blocks. For the kids who need more then a book to experience science. For the kids who will never have the money to buy a robot to practice at home with. For the kid who is worried about home life and has troubles focusing at school.
