An item that would benefit the whole class is a classroom timer. Classroom timer will help my students and I stay on pace throughout the learning task. When timers are used in the classroom, students take the responsibility to work productively throughout the set time. For examples, during rotations, students are directed to work within a 15-20 minute rotation. Within this set time, they are directed to complete a certain task before rotating to the next station.
The use of hokki stools, wobble chairs, and seat cushions will provide my students the seating support and balance they need to help them focus effectively during instructional learning time. When students are focused and engaged, their learning experience becomes richer. These stools and chairs gives my students the opportunity to build core muscles through balancing, which is beneficial for the body and mind. For example, one or a few of my wiggly student might be leaning back on a chair or changes seating positions every now and then to get comfortable during the lesson. Instead of interrupting other students or preventing falls, using these stools, chairs, and cushion will cause less interruptions and give the wiggly students the chance to move freely at their desk and simultaneously strengthen core muscles. Once students develops the strength and control skills in sitting for a longer period of time, they will be able to focus, listen and learn more.
