Classroom teachers do the reading, writing, and math, but they also have to do the social/emotional learning piece! I will be providing assistance to the teachers with this piece in the classroom, in small groups, and with individual students this year and in years to come. Through the use of books and games, students learn to identify and regulate their emotions, get along with others, and set goals for themselves. In my experience, if students are able to relate back to a book's plot, they are more likely to put into practice the skills that they have been taught. When in small groups, keeping their attention is done by playing games. They don't even realize they are learning! These materials will help many issues be addressed, expanded upon, and problems solved with our students so that they can continue to grow academically.
