My students are in a self contained classroom and all are students have Autism. They are in a district outside of general education due to the severity of their disability. Funding through the school does not allow for these type of items; although their necessity is key in order to create in environment where students are given the resources to feel safe, comfortable, confident and valued. By providing them with this type of support to help regulate their bodies and give a safe place to deescalate we also provide them with an equal opportunity to learn.
