We are a uniform school in a district that 90% of our student population qualifies for free and reduced lunch. Some of my families struggle to provide uniforms for their children, whether because they are constantly moving, unable to afford uniforms, or growing so fast that the parent cannot financial keep up with buying more uniforms.
I never want a student to feel as if they have to stay home because they do not have a school uniform. As the school social worker, often times families and students look to me for uniform assistance. Having a small uniform closet for students to pick out their uniform would mean a lot to my students. No child wants to get noticed for not being in uniform.
