My students live throughout the city. Most of my students live in poverty. Many come from single-parent homes. Many live with challenges. They see crime, death, prison, drugs, and abuse within their own homes and neighborhoods. These children are our children. They are the future. They are readers, explorers, scientists, authors, leaders, and risk takers. They are also unique, special, loved, and respected. As a teacher it is my job to motivate my students. I must provide the tools and resources to challenge them and enrich their learning. My attendance rate is 98%. My students love coming to school. 86% of my students read below grade level. Many don't read at home. Many don't have books or go to the public library. My school is a Title I school. All students receive free breakfast and free lunch. The staff at our school work together to ensure that all students are safe and learning. We build strong bonds with our students and their families. Student success is key!
