Our school is in the barrio in San Diego. We are a low-income school with most students as language learners. They come to kindergarten with varied preschool experiences, and many are coming to school for the very first time.
Still, with their limited exposure, my students are curious about the world. They love to ask questions... especially, "Why?" Their 5- and 6-year-old bodies are growing and stretching daily, but their hearts and minds have grown the most.
