The library is a place for students to develop a lifelong love of reading. This love will be nourished by providing students with props for retellings. These props include puppets to recreate the fairy tales Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs, and Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Props also include puppets to make the books If Your Give a Pancake and Brown Bear, Brown Bear come alive. Students will work collaboratively to demonstrate comprehension of stories as they creatively retell stories with materials purchased through this opportunity.
Students will be eager to read the stories again and again as they retell the stories with puppets. Retellings help students organize their thoughts about a story and comprehend what was read. Retellings will help students with character development, reading fluency, voice, and listening skills. By working together to recreate the story, students will have an opportunity to develop social skills.
Reading will be fun! The library will be a vibrant and alive area where students are developing a lifelong love of reading.
