The kindergarten children I teach attend Kea'au Elementary School on the Big Island of Hawaii. Many of them come from a one-income household, and all receive free and reduced lunch. Like other children, they enjoy exploring the world around them, creating hands-on things, and being curious. These five and six-year-olds want to learn, and they need the adequate classroom environment to help them do so.
