My students are amazing fourth graders. Our school is located in a high poverty immigrant community in California. Most of their parents have never finished high school and hopefully my students will be the first ones in their families to go to college.
My classroom consists primarily of students who are learning English as a second language. I have also mainstreamed deaf and hard of hearing students, autistic students, and students with learning disabilities in my all-inclusive classroom. The key to working with such a mix of abilities is collaboration using hands-on activities.
