Students in my classes traditionally record and track their data in a folder with brads. They also use interactive student notebooks to store mini anchor charts (notes), foldables, practice pages, writings, et cetera. This year I would like to streamline our processes and combine the two for ease and fluidity by using 1" ring binders.
Using binders to keep all these materials together will increase our productivity and allow for quick additions to our ever changing data. The more moving piece the less likely we are to stay on task. Keeping all of our work together will allow for quick transitions, and enable students to reference evidence of their performance and connect their work to their results.
Students will track their reading levels, rate of fluency, set goals for independent reading, create personal plans for continuous improvement for each unit of study, track unit assessment results. They will also store their English Language Arts work in this comprehensive notebook that will be safely stored in my classroom at all times.
