I teach at a Title 1 school where 95 percent of my students eat on a free or reduced meal plan. This might tell you a little about their economic background but it can't begin to tell about the sizes of their hearts and their thirst to learn. Some of them come to school in the same uniform they wore yesterday but again, they have touched my heart to make me a better person and to help them in any way that I can. Some of my parents work two jobs to make ends meet, so when their child comes to me and says they need a pencil or scissors, I'd be less than a person if I didn't make that happen.
