My students live in a semi-rural, high poverty area, over 100 miles from the nearest big city. My students come from very low socioeconomic homes and receive 100% free breakfast and lunch at school. Most of my students come from homes that primarily speak Navajo or Spanish and sometimes struggle with reading. Many do not have books at home to read.
