I am the Academic Engagement teacher at McClure. I serve students Pre-K through 6th grade. My role is to provide behavior and crisis support to struggling students. My day looks different every day. You may see me teaching social skill or how to control our emotions lessons. I may be de-escalating a student or helping them get back on track. I may be in a classroom observing student behaviors so I can help make a plan so they can be successful. I may be sitting side by side with a student modeling how to use their de-escalation plan we have created. I have girls groups twice a week. I check in and check out with students each morning and afternoon. I have a breakfast club each morning where we set daily goals. My classroom is a sensory room in process. The items I am requesting would go in our sensory room to help kids calm, de-escalate and regulate themselves so they can be successful in their classroom.
