Our school is a primary school with students ranging from pre-K to second grade. More than 80% of the students are on free or reduced lunch. They come to school already at a disadvantage from their poor family home life. Many come from single parent homes where the mother is doing her best to provide for her children. They come to school wanting to learn, but when we teach them the "old fashion way" of sitting at desks and doing worksheets, they become frustrated and start to fall even further behind other children their age.
