I did not grow up in poverty and for the past five years have witnessed it head on at my Title One campus. Somedays I go home feeling depressed. The background stories you find out as the year goes on about your students can break your heart. It is hard to imagine the pain many endure, yet each day they are here in my classroom eager to learn. I want to inspire my students to get out of the situation they are in and break the cycle. I want my classroom to be a place they can also call a home. Even more than that I want them to know people care about them and they can be anything that they want to be, but it comes with dedication and hard work.
