My students are unique individuals. I would love for all my students to have a passion for reading but unfortunately due to Hurricane Harvey we are in need of educational resources that will help rebuild our classroom and school back to normal. I am requesting books, magazines, three tablets, bean bags, headphones, and other materials that will in order for them to be successful in reading. The materials we have are outdated or there are not enough materials for everyone. Since we are a blended learning campus students have to use a computer or a laptop to complete their work online. However, since the hurricane our computer lab was damaged as well as the three computers in my classroom. As a blended learning campus students are allowed to collaboratively work together with a partner, small group, or independently.
The donated materials will make a tremendous difference in my students' learning because they will be exposed to different types of genres by reading a book or using the tablets to do their online independent assignments or group projects.
I want all my students to develop a sense of urgency when it comes to reading. Whether it's the old way (a hardback book) or the new way (an electronic device) the goal is to encourage them to have a desire to read and understand what they are reading. We been through the storm but we will rise again in just a matter of time!
