I am attempting to build an inviting and fun environment for my students, while also ensuring that we can maintain social distancing for in-person learning.
I want to tell the kids to imagine that they are each getting an invisible fort, a space, just for themselves, with invisible walls, but just as cozy and comfy as a pillow fort at home. I have sourced yoga mats and carts to serve as pads and writing/storage surfaces. Luckily we have just the right kind of chairs for them to use in their special spots.
The items on my list will help to make each student's spot a little more comfy, and help them keep their tools and materials organized. organized.
I'm also thinking a lot about how we can use our wall space to represent ourselves, since so much of our faces will be covered while we're together. I want the kids to feel like the space has been created just for them, and I hope they can see themselves as they look around the room.
