I teach first grade to 24 brilliant students in an urban district in Connecticut. I encourage my students to dream big, work hard, and help others. My students know the meaning of the words: compassion, respect, responsibility, safety, sharing and perseverance. I mean they can tell you what these words mean everyday in our class and give you a definition. We work together as a team. No one is left behind and we persevere through some really challenging concepts. Often we discuss our feelings and determine ways to make good choices. Transitions and management in the classroom is important so students learn as much knowledge as possible so lessons and activities run smoothly.
