I am asking for a hammock, sensory lights, musical light, and lights that project the galaxy on the ceiling of our classroom. These items cover so many areas for my students' sensory needs. such as movement, sound, and visual opportunities. Sensory integration is so important for learning and development: it connects sight, sounds, smells, and movement, making connections and bringing meaning to their world. We all access our world differently. My student require those around them to bring valued sensory opportunities to them.
My students love to be out of their wheelchairs in a peaceful environment, moving their bodies freely with no constraints.
My students have space in the classroom for sensory discovery where they have control by choosing activities that connect them to the five senses of input (visual, auditory, vibration, olfactory, and vestibular) to stimulate the senses, promote cause/effect interaction, and/or help promote feelings of pleasure, calm, and well -being.
